My name is Austin Davis.  In 2008, I solo kayaked the entire Texas Gulf Coast raising awareness and funds for Girls, Inc.  It was a very difficult challenge, but a great success for making people more aware of Girls, Inc.

Because it was such a serious challenge, I did not plan to do this trip again.  However, I’ve found a very important group that needs our help.  Wounded Warrior Project:          www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Wounded Warrior Project raises awareness and enlists the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women.

I attempted to kayak the Texas Gulf Coast again  March  2010 to raise awareness and funds for Wounded Warrior Project Packs for wounded soldiers. Unfortunately, the trip had to be halted.  I will begin a new trip mid-April 2011.  Wounded Warrior Backpacks and Transitional Care Packs contain essential care and comfort items including clothing, toiletries, calling card, CD player, and playing cards, all designed to make their hospital stay more comfortable.  They are provided to severely wounded service members arriving at military trauma centers.  Here’s the link to donate directly to the Kayak For Backpack page on the WWP site:

We have a goal of $15,000 which would mean 151 WWP Backpacks (funded by a $99 donation for each) given to wounded warriors with essential care items to make their hospital stay more comfortable—or 300 WWP Transistional Packs (funded by a $50 donation each) sent directly to Iraq & Afghanistan to provide comfort during a wounded warriors relocation to a US Military trauma center.  Please help us meet that small goal!

Please check back for updated information about the trip and how you can help our wounded soldiers.  They have sacrificed for us—-now it is time for us to show our appreciation.

Blue Skies,

Austin Davis
