After much consideration and constant monitoring of the weather forecast for the next few weeks, Kayak for Backpacks has decided to once again pause the event until a better weather window. The winds have been unrelenting for a kayak event. Please donate to Wounded Warrior Project remembering our wounded military and we will try again soon…

Where is Austin?

Austin took off from South Padre Island Saturday April 16, 2011.  He was carrying an instrument called SPOT.  This device allows him to send us his location.  He sent a message everyday when he stopped paddling. If you click on the date below, it will take you to a Google map that shows you where he spent the night that evening.  The green arrow shows where Austin stopped for the evening.  If you click on the satellite tab on the Google map, you can get a better idea of where Austin was located.

The trip is on pause until Sunday May 1, 2011, because of high winds, some minor equipment issues and some minor health issues.

We will update you next Sunday.
